A lifetime of hands-on experience and unrivaled work ethic are the traits which owner Chipper Pastron has dedicated to Market City Caffe Hospitality Group since its inception in 1987. A native Californian, Pastron hit the ground running at age 13 with his first restaurant job. At 17, he managed a busy kitchen with more than 70 kitchen staff at the landmark Gladstone’s 4 Fish. His zeal to learn operations of the restaurant form both a front-of-house and back-of-house perspective was the basis for his rapid success within the company. When the wildly popular spot expanded to additional locations, Pastron opened seven restaurants for the company until its sale in 1980. These 10 years were formative years in Pastron’s career; providing the educational foundation upon which Market City Caffe Hospitality Group would be built.Pastron's partnership with Salvatore Casola, Sr. spans almost three |

decades, working together at Gladstone’s 4 Fish in Pacific Palisades for six years before the two co-founded Market City Caffe Hospitality Group, opening their first restaurant in Old Town Pasadena, Calif. This was Pastron’s perfect opportunity to utilize the wealth of knowledge acquired growing up in the restaurant business. A perfect complement to each other, Pastron and Casola, Sr. have nurtured a successful partnership unparalleled in the hospitality industry. In addition to owning and operating multiple concepts, Pastron and Casola are the visionaries responsible for developing other restaurant concepts including Edie’s Diner, the first diner concept created in Southern California, developing service standards, menus and advising the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in conjunction with their reopening in 1990. They have also worked on myriad of projects for MCA Universal and the Hyatt Regency. With Sal Casola, Jr., the Market City Caffe Hospitality Group continues to thrive. |
